President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, speaking in the lower house of parliament, instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to create a public social fund in the country, TASS reports.
According to the head of state, this fund will deal with the solution of problems in the field of health care, education, social support, in particular, helping children with rare diseases.
“We will build sports facilities for children in cities, districts, townships, villages, we will assist talented children,” Tokayev said. “We will support the culture, we will help Alma-Ata to recover from the terrible tragedy”.
The President added that from the funds of the new fund, assistance will be provided to the families of law enforcement officers and military personnel who died in the elimination of the riots.
It should be reminded that protests against the backdrop of rising gas prices in Kazakhstan began on January 2. They later escalated into riots. After that, the country’s president turned to the CSTO for help; peacekeeping forces arrived in the country from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. According to Tokayev, the damage from the riots could amount to $ 2-3 billion.
Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, instructed to develop and adopt a program to increase the income of citizens. In addition, the president announced a five-year moratorium on the increase in the salaries of members of the government and deputies. He noted that the salaries of these categories of civil servants are already “quite sufficient”.
