The first deputy chairman of the European Commission (EC) Frans Timmermans has postponed his visit to the Russian capital to a later date due to the epidemic situation, reports TASS.
Another reason for the cancellation of the visit on the scheduled dates in the EC called the problems on the agenda, including “the inability to meet with all relevant partners.”
They said that Timmermans was waiting for a meeting with colleagues from the Russian Federation in Glasgow.
Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the European Commission planned to come to Moscow to discuss the topic of climate change in anticipation of the conference in Glasgow.
Recall that the 26th conference of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.
The search for ways to overcome the global climate crisis was identified as a promising area of cooperation between the United States and Russia at the summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States in Geneva.
