“We are not ‘throwing an idea’. We offer a tool that will help a million Belarusians. We do this because for us a pandemic is not politics, it is the health and lives of people. And now our task and responsibility is to take care of our health and the health of our loved ones; help doctors who have been heroically fighting the pandemic for a year and a half, help us, ”she said.
Tikhanovskaya also asked Belarusians to observe the antiquated rules. People need to wear masks, be vaccinated with available vaccines, avoid public places and events, and stay at home whenever possible, she said.
Recall that the presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, 2020. Their winner was Alexander Lukashenko, who has headed the country since 1994. More than 80% of voters voted for the current president. The second place was taken by Svetlana Tikhanovskaya with 10.12%. She did not recognize the results of her will and left the country. Soon after the end of the election campaign, mass protests began in the country.
