Yesterday, November 24, Tikhanovskaya addressed the European parliamentarians, urging them to increase pressure on official Minsk and promote “European values.” She also stated that her supporters have developed a “strategy of struggle”, consisting of three stages, with the recognized government of the republic.
“There are a lot of words of support and gratitude after the appeal to the EU in the European Parliament. Thank you for that, dear ones. I, in turn, would like to express my support and gratitude to thousands of Belarusians. Much has changed over this year, but our position remains unchanged. Determination, persistence and loyalty to principles are needed not only by Europe, but, first of all, by us, Belarusians. I thank you for your words of support, ”she said.
Recall that the presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9, 2020. Their winner was Alexander Lukashenko, who has headed the country since 1994. More than 80% of voters voted for the current president. The second place was taken by Svetlana Tikhanovskaya with 10.12%. She did not recognize the results of her will and left the country. Soon after the end of the election campaign, massive protests began in the country.
