Tikhanovskaya admitted that the Belarusian opposition “lost the streets”

The Belarusian opposition “lost the streets”, ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya expressed this opinion in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Le Temps.

“I have to admit that we have lost the streets, at the moment it seems that we have lost,” said Tikhanovskaya.

She explained the decrease in the street activity of the Belarusian opposition by the fact that the Belarusians opposing the current government are tired and afraid.

The actions on the streets of the republic’s cities, as suggested by Tikhanovskaya, may resume after the opposition is better organized, and this may happen, she said, in the spring.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus opened a criminal case against members of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition. The defendants are charged with the creation of an extremist formation and its leadership; in the case, among others, the name of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya appears.

Tikhanovskaya was put on the interstate wanted list in her homeland for calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order.
