Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg said that world leaders participating in the COP 26 climate summit are only pretending to take climate change seriously, RIA Novosti reported.
“At COP, it’s just politicians and people in power who pretend to be serious about our future, pretend to be serious about the present of those already suffering from the negative effects of the climate crisis,” she said.
The main work of the conference of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change began on November 1 with a two-day summit of world leaders. 95-year-old British Queen Elizabeth II planned to attend the conference, but refused to travel on the advice of doctors due to health problems. Instead of the queen, her eldest son, known for his active stance on environmental issues, will take part in the event.
