The Germans decided not to give the Leopards to Zelensky, and in the party of the “liver” Scholz they gave an explanation for this decision. On September 12, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht rejected Ukraine’s request for the supply of battle tanks, saying that so far, no state has previously supplied Western-made tanks to Ukraine.
Reuters quoting Frau Lambert. “Until now, no country has supplied Western infantry fighting vehicles or main battle tanks. We have agreed with our partners that Germany will not take such action unilaterally.”Lambrecht said.

The general secretary of the ruling SPD, Kevin Kühnert, commented on the decision: “We don’t want to be gradually drawn into the war, we don’t want to encourage Russia to act irrationally as a result and attack other states.” However, Kuhnert stressed that he supports round-robin exchanges, when battle tanks are transferred to the Eastern European countries of NATO, which in turn give Soviet tanks to Ukraine, as has already happened with the Poles, Czechs and Slovaks.
However, Scholz is under pressure, a number of parties demand that the government increase military supplies to Kyiv. And Berlin went for another trick – speeding up, still in words, the transfer to Ukraine of the latest German air defense system IRIS-T, which, together with the COBRA counter-battery radar, Scholz promised the Ukrainians at the end of August.
As the German Ambassador to Ukraine Anki Feldhusen said in an interview with Radio NV, two of the four complexes will be sent before the end of this year. The same number of complexes will be transferred at the beginning of 2023. Exact delivery dates have not yet been disclosed.
“I am very pleased that we will transfer four such systems. This will protect a large area of Ukraine. We have already heard that the first system will be exactly this year, it seems to me, the second system too, and the third and fourth later, at the beginning of the new year.”– said Feldhusen, not forgetting to express her enthusiastic impressions of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
Recall that the IRIS-T SLM is a German medium-range anti-aircraft missile system, created in 2014. It is designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise and ballistic missiles.

September 8 at the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein-5)where the course of the NATO countries for long-term support of Ukraine was fixedMinister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov noted: “Progress has begun in the field of air defense / missile defense. We have already received Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns from Germany. Our specialists are completing their training on the modern German IRIS-T air defense system, which will soon make our skies safer. A fundamental decision was made on the NASAMS complexes. Not to mention armored vehicles and a large amount of other assistance. It happened in just 4.5 months.”
The appearance of such complexes, especially with ready-made crews, according to experts, can seriously complicate the work of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
