Captain Scott Searles, head of the U.S. Navy’s unmanned maritime systems program, said that this summer the United States is going to test the 80-ton Orca unmanned submarine, which will be equipped with a 34-foot payload module for hidden placement of mines and other cargo.
Boeing is busy developing five such devices. According to a representative of the US Navy, Orca has already been tested in April. The submarine then showed itself well, in connection with which it was decided to conduct further tests. It is known that the main task of submarines will be the placement of mines.
