The US Congress presented a bill on new sanctions against the Russian Federation

A group of US Democratic senators presented a bill providing for the introduction of new tough anti-Russian sanctions in case the situation around Ukraine escalates.

The document assumes in this case the introduction of personal sanctions against the President, the Prime Minister, the heads of the Foreign and Defense Ministries of the Russian Federation and at least three major Russian banks.

The initiative was taken by the head of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Robert Menendez, with the support of 25 of his fellow Democrats. This was reported on the website of the committee.

Earlier, the American media wrote that the White House expressed its readiness to support this bill.

Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations of destructive actions, noting that it does not intend to attack anyone, and Western statements are used as an excuse to place more NATO military equipment near Russian borders.
