The National Interest published an article by Jörgen Östrem Moeller, in which he stated that the United States should not put pressure on Kyiv demanding to cede to Russia for the sake of a speedy conclusion of a peace agreement.
The author of the publication notes that the United States has serious leverage over the Ukrainian government, however, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should start from the interests of his country when deciding when to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia, writes news agency REGNUM.
Whereas previously many believed that the United States was supplying weapons to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia, now there are speculations that Washington is pursuing other goals as well. Given the rhetoric of the White House, experts do not rule out that the United States is using a Russian “special military operation” to weaken Russia. At least, this can be assumed by following the words and actions of US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who stressed that Russia must suffer losses that will not allow it to launch a new “military special operation.”
Such a goal implies a conflict of attrition with heavy losses to be borne by the Ukrainians, not the Americans. The United States continues to continue to achieve its goals by proxy.
