The United States authorities are concerned about the latest developments in Sudan, where several ministers and high-ranking officials have been arrested.
“The United States is deeply alarmed by reports of a military takeover by the transitional government,” the US Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs on Twitter said.
Jeffrey Feltman, special envoy for the Horn of Africa, stressed that a forceful seizure of power is unacceptable, and any changes in the transitional government threaten the provision of assistance to this country.
As previously reported, the military in Sudan blocked all entrances to the capital, Khartoum, and blocked bridges. Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk is under house arrest.
Recall that on September 21 this year, an unsuccessful coup attempt took place in Sudan. It was attempted by functionaries and those who support the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir. The action to overthrow the government was suppressed.
