Svobodnaya Pressa continues to publish translations by authors from alternative Western media. This is far from the kind of propaganda that is printed in CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and other “authoritative” media resources. If you are interested in learning more about these authors, you can take a look here.

15 April Italian Foreign Minister Di mayo and the Minister of Defense Guerini they were urgently summoned to NATO headquarters in Brussels for an extraordinary meeting of the North Atlantic Council – on the same day when the president Biden signed the “Executive decree on the fight against harmful external activities of the Russian government.”

According to media reports, the decree not only orders the expulsion of diplomats and the imposition of economic sanctions. “If Russia continues or intensifies its destabilizing international actions, – decided this decree“The United States will impose costs that will strategically impact Russia.”

It was to prepare this “strategic impact”, that is, for an intensified military-political escalation against Russia, that the North Atlantic Council was convened at the level of foreign and defense ministers of 30 NATO countries under the formal chairmanship of the Secretary General Stoltenberg, but in fact – the US Secretary of State Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Really

The North Atlantic Council – the political body of the Alliance, which, according to NATO rules, makes decisions not by a majority, but always “unanimously and by common agreement”, that is, in accordance with what was decided in Washington, – immediately and unanimously approved the “Declaration of Solidarity with the United States regarding the actions announced on April 15 in response to the destabilizing activities of Russia ”.

The Council then listed the accusations against Russia: “Destabilizing and provocative behavior, violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia, interference in the elections in the United States and NATO countries, an extensive disinformation campaign, the use of nerve gas against Navalny, support for attacks on US / NATO forces in Afghanistan, violation of nonproliferation and disarmament agreements ”- in the same words as the Biden decree.

On the merits of these charges, it is enough to consider one thing, the last. Who accused Russia of violating nonproliferation and disarmament agreements? None other than the United States, which has always violated the Non-Proliferation Treaty by deploying nuclear weapons in Italy and other European countries, which tore up the INF Treaty, paving the way for the installation of new nuclear missiles in Europe.

This escalation is not only verbal. The day before the North Atlantic Council meeting, the US Army in Europe announced that it would retain three bases in Germany that were to be returned to the German government because it will receive two new operational units in the coming months. The day after the North Atlantic Council meeting, the United States announced an agreement with Norway that allows the United States to maintain four air and naval bases on the border with Russia.

Meanwhile, the American destroyer Arleigh Burke returned to Europe after modernization that “increased the range and power of its weapons.” Arleigh Burke is one of four forward deployment missile units of the Sixth Fleet that operate primarily in the Baltic and Black Seas under the orders of the US Navy Europe Command (headquartered in Naples-Capodichino).

These ships are equipped with vertical launchers Lockheed Martin Mk 41, capable of launching (according to official specifications) “missiles for all missions – anti-aircraft, anti-ship and ground attack”. To solve the latter, the Tomahawk missile can be equipped with a conventional or nuclear warhead. Unable to know which warhead is on the missile, Russia takes it for granted that there are nuclear attack missiles on board these ships close to its territory.

While London is also announcing the upcoming dispatch of its missile system to the Black Sea, Moscow says that from April 24 to October 31, the passage of foreign warships through Russian territorial waters in three regions of the Black Sea will be prohibited. The situation will become even more tense when the US-Ukrainian Sea Breeze exercise will take place next summer in the Black Sea, involving more than 30 ships, supported by planes, helicopters and drones with the participation of other NATO countries.
