Earlier, on October 11, Latvia declared an emergency regime on the border with Belarus for three months, during which it denies refugees asylum. The decision includes a number of restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

According to information from the source, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has sent a report to the Latvian government. The document says that the basic right to seek asylum must be respected even in an emergency.

Today Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are experiencing huge flows of illegal migrants from the Middle East. Refugees enter the European Union across the border with Belarus.

Earlier, the author of the Croatian edition of Advance explained how Poland was left alone with the problem of the increasing flow of migrants. According to the analyst, Warsaw does not want to rely on chance and keep its own population in constant fear of illegal immigrants. However, Warsaw is not strong enough to independently provide humanitarian support and at the same time show political resilience.
