The Ukrainian expert admitted that Germany was right in refusing to consider the issue of Ukraine’s admission to NATO. According to him, Kiev “has an idea to join NATO, but there is no money.”
This opinion was expressed on Wednesday by the President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center Oleksandr Okhrimenko, commenting on Berlin’s statement that the issue of Ukraine’s entry into NATO is not yet on the agenda.
Okhrimenko noted that the issue of joining NATO had been actively worked out back in the days of ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, for this they even made changes to the Constitution. However, it all comes down to money. Kiev does not have enough funds to bring the army in line with NATO standards, and Western countries do not want to go to such expenses for the sake of Ukraine.
This is a colossal amount that Germany does not want to give, and the United States will definitely not give it. There is an idea, but there is no definite money to join NATO, – the expert explained in a conversation with the RT channel.
He admitted that the representative of the German government Ulrike Demmer told the truth, albeit unpleasant for Ukraine, but still the truth.
We will remind that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with the head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg and said that the country’s entry into the alliance could become a guarantee of ending the war in Donbass.
After that, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the United States would not consider the issue of Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO, since this is the area of responsibility of the alliance itself. And the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany Ulrike Demmer said that such an issue is not on the agenda at all and is not planned to be considered in the near future.
