The State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has submitted documents for the registration of a vaccine against the coronavirus of the company AstraZeneca, the press service of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health said.
The department emphasized that earlier WHO had approved the drug of this company for emergency use around the world as part of the COVAX initiative. Kiev expects that at least 500 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in Ukraine by the end of February.
On January 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on accelerated registration of vaccines imported into the country for emergency use, except for those produced in Russia.
At the end of last year, the authorities announced the conclusion of an agreement for the supply of more than 1.9 million doses of vaccine to the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech, which had previously submitted documents for registration in Ukraine.
Earlier, the media reported that South Africa intends to return a million doses of coronavirus vaccine to AstraZeneca due to its low effectiveness.
