The Ukrainian army used air-explosive shells during the shelling of Donetsk

The armed forces of Ukraine continue to shell residential areas of the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Mayor of the city Oleksiy Kulemzin reports.

According to the official, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use air-blasted shells in order to increase the number of civilian casualties. Ammunition descends on parachutes and explodes at a distance of 50 meters from the ground. Most likely, we are talking about high-explosive mines M454 S-HE caliber 155 millimeters.

“An important feature of the M454 is a braking parachute that opens to slow down the warhead when approaching the target and detonate at the optimum height,” Russkaya Vesna writes.

Earlier it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine used rockets with prohibited mines “Petal” during the shelling of residential areas of Donetsk.
