Natalia Vodianova with her daughter Neva and son Victor
Last year Natalia Vodianova began work on a new project – the travel show “Russian Holidays”. The model became its author, and the writer Mikhail Zygar became the showrunner. And today the first trailer of this documentary series has appeared on the network.
Natalia Vodianova starred in the show with her children from marriage to Justin Portman: 19-year-old Lucas, 15-year-old Neva and 13-year-old Victor. Vodianova said that she wanted to show Russia to her sons and daughters, who have lived in Europe since childhood and know little about their mother’s homeland.
My children understand that they are Russian, but at the same time they do not know what that means. And an idea came to my mind, and Mikhail supported it: to shoot a documentary series where I show the Russia that I know. And through the eyes of children, we will show it to millions of viewers,
– shared Vodianova.
With children, the model, despite the coronavirus pandemic, managed to visit many parts of Russia last year. In the first four episodes, they will talk about their trips to the south of our Motherland: Sochi, Adygea, Pyatigorsk and North Ossetia. And in other episodes, Natalya and her children will show viewers the north of Russia: Murmansk, the Kola Peninsula and Karelia.
Our series is a meaningful recognition of Russia. Lucas, Neva and Victor know something about the country, but at the same time they have a number of stereotypes that are inherent in people living abroad. It seems to me that we, residents of Russia, are very interested to see how foreign children see us. This is not just an entertaining travel, but also a look at stereotypes from the outside,
– said Mikhail Zygar.
The show will premiere on April 25 via the Premier video service.
