The State Duma of the Russian Federation opened the first spring parliamentary session of the VIII convocation, TASS reports.
It is expected that the Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin will outline the main directions of the work of the Parliament during the session. Further speeches of the leaders of the factions on topical issues are planned.
The spring session of the State Duma of the Russian Federation will last until July 31. As Volodin noted earlier at a meeting with parliamentarians, the priorities of work during this period will be issues of supporting the population, developing the economy of the state and regions. According to the vice-speaker of the chamber Alexander Zhukov, as soon as the head of the country Vladimir Putin announces the message to the Federal Assembly, the deputies will prepare a plan to ensure it at the legislative level and begin to implement it.
Earlier it also became known that the Duma Council decided to reduce the number of plenary meetings from three to two times a week for the time being due to the spread of the coronavirus.
