The State Duma introduced a bill to abolish the three-day voting

The bill on the abolition of three-day voting in elections was introduced by the State Duma deputies from "Fair Russia". Earlier, the Socialist-Revolutionaries have repeatedly stated that they oppose the vote for several days.

According to RIA Novosti, the draft, which was introduced by a group of deputies led by the leader of the Socialist Revolutionaries, Sergei Mironov, proposes to invalidate the provision on the possibility of voting within several days. This provision should take effect from October 1, 2020.

The provisions of this federal law were applied in the elections of various levels that took place within three days from 11 to 13 September 2020, - it says in the text of the explanatory note.

On September 13, a single voting day took place in Russia; on September 11 and 12, citizens had the opportunity to express their will ahead of schedule. Elections at various levels were held in 83 regions of the country, and as a result, more than 78 thousand seats will be replaced.

Earlier, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Alexander Gorovoy said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the regional elections did not record any violations that could significantly affect the voting results. According to him, the department received a little more than 2.5 thousand messages "of various directions" about violations during early voting and on a single voting day. He explained that these messages related to violations of campaigning, destruction of campaign materials, bribery of voters, as well as interference in the work of commissions and illegal distribution of ballots.
