Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa commented on RT on the statement of German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer that Russia’s actions lead to an “increase in challenges” for the European region.
In an interview with RND on Saturday, the head of the German Defense Ministry said about “growing challenges” “taking into account the behavior of Russia.”
Alexei Chepa, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, does not believe that the Federal Republic of Germany can view Russia’s actions as hostile. He noted that the Russian Federation is creating new types of weapons in response to the fact that NATO countries are getting closer to its border.
The parliamentarian stressed that the development of Russia’s own military potential is aimed at strengthening national defense, noting that the state cannot but strengthen its military base while other countries are doing it.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer in the Focus edition announced a “large-scale build-up” of Russian arms near NATO’s eastern borders and her support for the intimidation policy of the Russian Federation.
Then the article was commented on by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed hope that the German authorities “will prevail in realism in the strategy as applied to our country,” and the Russian Federation, in turn, is ready for a mutually respectful dialogue with Germany on the widest range of topical issues.
