The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the abolition of compulsory technical inspection

The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the abolition of mandatory technical inspection of personal cars and motorcycles. This was reported on the website of the thought.

The initiative provides for the abolition of mandatory technical inspection for cars and motor vehicles used exclusively for personal purposes and owned by individuals. The bill does not apply to taxis and other vehicles that are used to transport passengers. At the same time, owners of personal vehicles, which are used for business purposes, will need to obtain a diagnostic card.

Today, regular inspection remains mandatory for vehicles over four years old, as well as for vehicles with a redesigned design. In addition, the procedure must be followed in cases where the owner of the car changes. At the same time, technical inspection remains mandatory for buses and trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons and trailers for them.

The explanatory note to the project notes that the likelihood of an accident of cars and motorcycles with technical malfunctions, but having valid OSAGO policies, is extremely small.

The authors of the initiative are senators Andrei Turchak, Sergei Neverov, Evgeny Moskvichev and Andrei Kutepov.

Earlier it was reported that the government supported the bill on the abolition of mandatory technical inspection for vehicle owners with some modifications.
