The US State Department appealed to Russia after the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, demanding “work in good faith” to establish peace in Ukraine. In his statement, a State Department spokesman named three times what Russia “should” do.
In a commentary to TASS, a State Department spokesman said that the United States considers the Minsk agreements to be the basis for “a diplomatic settlement of the Russian-provoked conflict in eastern Ukraine.”
According to him, in order for “this foundation” to bring success to the settlement of the conflict, it is Russia that must “fulfill its obligations”, as well as “work in good faith to end the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.”
The interlocutor of the agency also added that the United States will continue to use its levers to resolve the conflict, but Russia “must abandon its irreconcilable position.”
