The Sputnik V vaccine was tested on people over 60 years old

In Russia, research has begun on the Sputnik V vaccine with the participation of volunteers of the older age group - people over 60 years old, RIA Novosti reports, citing Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko.

According to him, clinical trials of the drug will help develop special vaccination parameters for patients in this group.

The world's first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed at the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry and Microbiology and named Sputnik V, was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health in August.

In total, the study of the drug, which has been going on since September, involves about 40,000 volunteers, 10,000 of whom will receive a placebo.
