The winner in the women’s relay race at the Biathlon World Championship in Pokljuka, Slovenia was the Norwegian national team.
The athletes, including Tiril Eckhoff, finished in 1 hour 10 minutes 39 seconds, spending 11 additional rounds.
The second place was taken by the German national team (+8.8 seconds and five additional rounds), the Ukrainian team was third (+9.2; 7).
The Russian national team consisting of Evgenia Pavlova, Ulyana Kaisheva, Tatyana Akimova and Svetlana Mironova was able to take only 11th place, repeating the worst result in the history of such performances, recorded at the 2016 World Cup in Holmenkollen, Norway.
Our biathletes lagged behind the Norwegians by 2 minutes 10.9 seconds, made one penalty loop and spent seven additional rounds.
Earlier on Saturday, it became known that the head coach of the Russian biathlon team, Valery Polkhovsky, for health reasons, will not be able to attend the end of the World Cup. Because of poor health, he was hospitalized, now he is in a hotel under the supervision of doctors of the national team.
The Biathlon World Championship will end on February 21. The Russian national team has not yet been able to win a single medal at the world championship in Slovenia.
