The Russian women’s national football team on the road beat the Portuguese team in the first play-off match for getting to the European Championship, TASS reports.
The meeting of the teams took place in Lisbon and ended with a score of 1: 0 in favor of the Russians. The only goal in the match at the 51st minute was scored by Nelly Korovkina.
For the national team of the Russian Federation, this match was the first under the leadership of the new head coach Yuri Krasnozhan.
The return meeting of the teams will take place on April 13 in Moscow.
The European Championship was to be held in England from 7 July to 1 August. However, the tournament was postponed to the next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Recall that earlier the Russian youth football team was unable to reach the playoffs of the European Championship. The Russians finished third in Group C with three points.
