The Russian national team defeated the Scottish team in the match of the 20th round of the World Curling Championship in Calgary, Canada, TASS reports.
The meeting ended with a score of 9: 2 in favor of the Russian team.
Thus, the Russian national team, which secured its entry into the playoffs of the World Championship ahead of schedule, guaranteed itself at least second place in the standings following the results of the preliminary round and made it directly to the semifinals of the tournament.
The day before, the Russian national team also qualified for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The tournament will end on April 11. The rival of the Russians in the last match of the preliminary round at the world championship will be the Danish team.
Earlier it was reported that the Women’s World Curling Championship, which was scheduled to be held in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, from March 19 to March 28, will not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
