The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the US plans to send ships to the Black Sea

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko appreciated the actions of the United States, which are preparing to send their ships through the Bosphorus to the Black Sea, RIA Novosti reports.

In his opinion, the increased activity of NATO in the Black Sea is a factor that complicates the security situation in the entire region.

On the eve, it was reported about the US plans to send warships to demonstrate its support to Ukraine. Turkey today has already notified the participants of the Montreux Convention about the planned passage of American ships from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea and back. Two American destroyers are expected to enter the Black Sea on April 14 and 15.

US Navy Sixth Fleet spokesman Kyle Raines said today that American ships maintain a regular presence in the Black Sea and future operations are not being discussed.

Note that the Russian army in the past few weeks has been carrying out large-scale troop movements in the Western and Southern military districts, which border Ukraine. But the Kremlin has repeatedly stressed that Russia poses no threat to other countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the situation in Donbass in connection with the growing tension on the contact line. We add that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Donbass to inspect the advanced positions and support the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian military.
