It is necessary to toughen the responsibility for the mass death of people caused by counterfeit alcohol – such a proposal was made by the head of the “Sober Russia” project, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev. Reported by RT.
In a written appeal to Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the parliamentarian recalled that this year there have been several tragic events related to the sale of surrogate alcohol to citizens.
At the same time, in Russia, the maximum punishment for the production and sale of products that do not meet safety requirements is imprisonment for up to ten years, if the actions led to the death of two or more persons. Meanwhile, for drunk driving, which caused the death of only one person, the driver faces up to 12 years in prison.
In this regard, the legislator proposed to increase the term of imprisonment for the production and sale of counterfeit products, if this entailed the death of two or more persons, up to 20 years.
Last week, six people were poisoned by surrogate alcohol in the Kurgan region.
Earlier in the Orenburg region, 65 people were poisoned by surrogate alcohol, 36 of them died.
Against the background of what is happening, the narcologist named a lethal dose of counterfeit alcohol.
