Borys Gryzlov, the plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the contact group on settlement in the east of Ukraine, commented on the Donbass proposal to hold an international conference on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
According to him, this idea is very important, Russia supports it. He expressed hope that this initiative will be approved by the international community.
“We hope that the conference will be supported and representatives of the UN member states and international organizations will take part in it,” Gryzlov was quoted as saying by TASS.
He also noted that this event would help to form a common understanding of the essence and content of the Minsk agreements.
Earlier at the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Natalya Nikonorova, explained that it is proposed to hold such a conference, since the negotiations in the contact group “are actually blocked because of the position of Kiev.” By the way, the representatives of Ukraine, who attended this meeting on Wednesday, did not support the DPR initiative.
We will remind, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak recently said that the Minsk agreements are almost impossible to implement in the version in which they were signed.
