A catastrophic humanitarian situation is developing in most of the territory of Ukraine with a tendency to worsen, said the head of the National Center for Defense Control of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
He said that the most difficult situation is in Kyiv, Kharkov, Sumy, Chernigov and Mariupol and some other cities and towns. “In these cities, today there is practically a humanitarian catastrophe,” he said.
According to Mizintsev, Ukrainian as well as foreign civilians are not allowed to evacuate by the Nazis, who use the residents “as human shields.”
“Conditions for peaceful life are being created in the liberated territories in Ukraine,” the Russian defense ministry also said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation in Ukraine. According to him, the actions of the Russian Federation in this situation are connected with self-defense.
Yesterday Belarus hosted the second round of talks between Moscow and Kiev. The parties discussed humanitarian, military issues, as well as the topic of a future political settlement. The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, said that the agreements reached at the meeting are significant progress.
At the same time, as the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov later said, the Russian Federation “did not abandon the goal of denazifying Ukraine.”
