Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director for Science of the University Clinic of Moscow State University Simon Matskeplishvili called the time frame when humanity can overcome COVID-19, writes RT.
The expert believes that collective immunity will gradually form, some people will become immune to infection, and another part of the population will develop artificial immunity due to vaccines.
He stressed that when the virus has no one to infect, it will simply disappear.
“I think that in a year we will not even remember about him,” Matskeplishvili summed up.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeev, said that the first full and reliable scientific data on whether collective immunity to COVID-19 has appeared in Russia will be received no earlier than a year later.
In turn, Rospotrebnadzor said that regular hand washing with soap and water reduces the likelihood of contracting coronavirus by 36%.
