The Rada Committee asks the Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate the detention of the deputy of Kiva

The head of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Law Enforcement, Serhiy Ionushas, sent a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the need to investigate the detention for 3.5 hours of the deputy of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Ilya Kiva. Information about this appeared on the party’s website.

Ionushas noted that the appeal to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky to conduct an official investigation into the detention has been accepted. Member of the profile committee Artem Dmitruk stressed that the collective reaction of parliamentarians to the actions of law enforcement officers is important.

During a committee meeting, Kiva said that on November 1, his car was stopped on Stolichnoye Highway in Kiev, in violation of all norms. He said that his car was blocked for 3.5 hours. He was charged with violating traffic rules, but Kiva believes that it was a planned operation.

“For violation of traffic rules, a special unit, an investigative-operational group and a criminal investigation department of thirty people do not come,” he added.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian law enforcement officers opened a criminal case against Ilya Kiva. He is accused of treason because of the publication of a video congratulating Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday.
