The opening of Russia to tourists from other countries is expected in 2021. Such a probable period was named by the vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Dmitry Gorin on the air of the Vesti FM radio station, TASS reports.
According to him, it is impossible to accurately predict anything. “It is clear that inbound tourism will start only next year, which, alas, is now actually at zero,” Gorin said. He explained that due to the coronavirus pandemic and the changing situation, you can count on the fingers of the country from which you can travel to Russia.
The Vice President of ATOR also said that the recovery of the tourism industry is expected from the spring-summer season of 2021.
Russia has closed flights with other countries since March 27 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and traffic through border checkpoints was also restricted. Recently, air traffic with a number of countries has been restored. So, on October 16, Russia resumed flights with Serbia and Cuba.
