Poland expressed its readiness to provide an adequate response if the Russian Federation deploys its hypersonic missiles on the territory of the Kaliningrad region. In this case, the Poles are even ready to activate the 5th article of the charter of the NATO military bloc on collective defense. Correspondents of the online news publication Voennoye Obozreniye wrote about this.

The PAP agency reported that Wojciech Skurkiewicz, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Poland, said this.

“We are a country located on the eastern flank of the NATO military bloc. For this reason, Poland, like no other, is 100% aware of the great threat of such a step by Russia. As a result, Poland’s actions will be adequate to all the actions that Russia is taking,” Skurkevich said.

The Polish Secretary of State of the Defense Ministry also added that if a real threat to Poland arises, Article 5 of the Charter of the NATO military bloc will be automatically activated. The wording of this article is as follows: “one for all and all for one” (an attack on one state of an alliance member is tantamount to an attack on all countries of the alliance).

“Security guarantees within NATO have been and remain in force, and the corresponding obligations have been clearly voiced by the members of the North Atlantic Alliance and US President Joe Biden,” said a spokesman for the Polish Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that three MiG-31 aircraft equipped with the Kinzhal hypersonic aviation system were relocated to the Chkalovsk airfield in the Kaliningrad region. This happened on August 18 as part of strategic deterrence measures.
