The communication between the presidents of Russia and Belarus will take place without the participation of the press and journalists. Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will meet at the Bocharov Ruchei residence in Sochi. This was announced by the journalist of the Kremlin pool Dmitry Smirnov.
One of the topics of negotiations between the politicians will be the political crisis in the republic. The presidents are likely to discuss ways to resolve the conflict between the government and the protesters. Also, Putin and Lukashenko will touch upon a number of economic issues, in particular - lowering prices for energy carriers.
Earlier, the editor-in-chief of the radio station Echo of Moscow suggested that the head of the republic would try to fool his colleague at the upcoming meeting. Lukashenko will promise to make concessions to Putin, including giving up the sovereignty of Belarus. He will show himself as an adequate and negotiable politician.
It should be reminded that at the beginning of September, repressions by law enforcement officers intensified in the republic. Dozens of protesters were severely beaten during the arrests. The leaders of the opposition movement were either sent to prison or expelled from the country.
The legitimacy of Alexander Lukashenko was questioned by representatives of a number of Western countries. They demanded that the violence in the republic be stopped and that fair and transparent elections be held. Sanctions were imposed on several Belarusian officials.
