The most common fall illnesses: prevention of diseases and exacerbations

How to avoid autumn diseases and prevent the exacerbation of chronic diseases? Read in our article.

It’s no secret that autumn is a season of exacerbation of many chronic diseases, as well as the appearance of some “classic” autumn diseases.

Seasonal allergies, colds, flu epidemics, exacerbation of joint pain – this, alas, is not a complete list of autumn health threats.

What autumn diseases should be feared – acute and chronic

Why is the autumn season considered the most dangerous for many patients? The reason is simple: along with the transition to cold weather, rains and dampness, as well as short daylight hours, in most cases, human immunity also decreases.

Therefore, the body becomes vulnerable to infections and viruses. Also, due to a decrease in immunity, chronic diseases also make themselves felt.

The most common autumn diseases

  • Colds and SARS
  • Flu
  • ENT diseases
  • Cystitis
  • Pyelonephritis (inflammation of the kidneys)
  • Herpes
  • Exacerbation of chronic joint diseases
  • Exacerbation of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer
  • Seasonal allergy (usually to weed pollen)
  • Dermatoses
  • Nervous and mental disorders

For example, colds and acute respiratory viral infections are a direct confirmation that the body is under stress due to the abrupt change of seasons.

As a result, the weakened body is unable to resist not only viruses, but also simple hypothermia. Against the background of a weakened immune system, a cold can easily turn into diseases of the ENT system.

Among them: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, otitis media, etc. Often, due to a decrease in immunity, in parallel with a cold (or independently of it), herpes “blooms” on the lips.

Another possible negative consequence of hypothermia is cystitis. Bladder and urinary tract infections are very common in autumn.

There is also a risk of getting a complication in the form of pyelonephritis – inflammation of the kidneys, which will be much more difficult to cure and take longer.

The first month of autumn is the most difficult for allergy sufferers. The peak flowering of weeds is in September, and every time they go outside turns into a real hell for such patients.

The transition to a new daily regimen, vitamin deficiency, endocrine disorders in combination with improper diet and depression can easily lead to an exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease.

Cold dank weather and dampness on the street can start to “ache” joints, especially if they have been bothering you for a long time.

And it is not at all necessary to explain the reason for the appearance of nervous disorders in the fall.

Prevention of autumn diseases

  • The most important remedy for the prevention of traditional autumn diseases (especially colds) is, of course, strengthening the immune system.
  • Gradual hardening (for a start, you can try a contrast shower), moderate physical activity, a healthy balanced diet with a sufficient amount of all necessary vitamins and microelements, good healthy sleep, an active lifestyle, the correct alternation of work and rest will not leave a chance for almost any disease
  • Try not to overcool.
  • Allergy sufferers need to do allergy tests, determining the exact source of suffering, and then follow the recommendations of the allergist.
  • Patients who are aware of chronic diseases need to be especially sensitive to their well-being in the fall. Physiotherapy and physiotherapy in combination with massage will be a wonderful prevention of joint pain. And MRI of the joints will help determine the exact cause of the pain.
  • For the slightest health problem, do not ignore the signals from the body. It is better to see a doctor right away and start early treatment to avoid complications.
