The Moldovan authorities will allocate funds to JSC Moldovagaz to pay off the debt for current consumption to Gazprom. This is reported by TASS with reference to the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spyna.
According to the official, earlier the Emergency Situations Commission allocated 1.7 billion lei to the state-owned company Energocom. Of these, the company spent about 300 million on gas purchases in October. The remaining 1.4 billion lei will be directed to make current payments to Moldovagaz, Spinu said.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Moldovan authorities will send a letter to Gazprom, in which they will explain their further actions and tell about the measures taken to pay off the debt.
“We need more time to allocate funds legally. Amendments were made to the state budget for this year, they have already been approved in the first reading, on Thursday the parliament will approve it in the final reading, ”explained Spinu.
He also noted that the Moldovan authorities warned Gazprom about problems with debt repayment and asked for more time to look for money.
Earlier it was reported that on November 22, Gazprom warned Chisinau that in case of non-payment of the debt, gas supplies would be stopped within 48 hours. The Moldovan government has promised residents that it will not leave them without blue fuel.
