The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to introduce an advance tax for migrants

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a concept for a draft of a new law on migration issues, which contains a proposal to introduce an advance tax for foreigners coming to Russia to work.

Migrants will have to pay personal income tax in the form of a fixed advance, reports RIA News. The agency notes that employers, in turn, will have the right to attract foreigners, provided they are included in the "register of employers attracting foreign labor" (RRPIRS).

If the migrant does not pay personal income tax in advance, he will receive a notification demanding to pay tax within 15 days. Refusal to do this threatens the foreigner with deportation and a ban on work in Russia.

Earlier chernayakobra.ru reported that foreigners who own housing in Russia can register migrants with them. The corresponding law came into force on September 7, 2020. The document was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in June 2020. According to the law, a homeowner, even if he does not have Russian citizenship, can provide his living space for a person without Russian citizenship to live.
