Kazakhstan is calling on world powers to develop a plan to eliminate nuclear weapons amid the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic, Mukhtar Tleuberdi.

The politician recalled the 13,400 nuclear warheads announced by UN Secretary General António Guterres located around the world.

“We call on all states, including nuclear powers, to develop a phased plan for the complete elimination of nuclear weapons by 2045,” the politician said.

According to a report by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, the United States is the world leader in spending on nuclear weapons. In 2020 alone, they spent more than $37 billion for these purposes.
