The military dismisses the government of Sudan

The head of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, declared a state of emergency in the country, and also announced the dissolution of the cabinet. He announced this during a television address on the afternoon of October 25.

According to him, the military “will continue the democratic transition until the transfer of power to the civilian government.”

It is noted that the elections are scheduled for July 2023.

On September 21 this year, an unsuccessful coup attempt took place in Sudan. It was attempted by functionaries and those who support the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir. The action to overthrow the government was suppressed.

On Monday morning, it became known that the military had blocked all entrances to the country’s capital Khartoum and blocked bridges. Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk is under house arrest.
