The Ukrainian side has withdrawn from the negotiation process, so at the moment there is no need to talk about preparing a meeting between Russian President Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Zelensky. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists today.
“Our position here is well known – any high-level meeting should be the result of negotiations, and it should be well prepared. The Ukrainian side has left the negotiation cycle, and therefore now there is no need to talk about the possibility of preparing such a meeting, ”RIA Novosti quotes the answer of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation to the corresponding question of media representatives.
Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is in Turkey, called the condition for preparing a meeting of the heads of the two states – the resumption of the negotiation process by negotiating teams.
At the same time, the minister called the demand of the Ukrainian side for the withdrawal of Russian troops to the positions they occupied as of February 23 “a frivolous approach.”
