The Kremlin expressed concern about the worsening situation in Ukraine

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin expressed concern about the situation in Ukraine after the recent actions of its authorities, TASS reports.

A Kremlin spokesman explained that Moscow is currently experiencing problems with a sharp rise in prices for housing and communal services in Ukraine, and besides, a sharp reaction against oppositionists, in particular, the leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, is worrying.

“This is very disturbing information. It is alarming, because we see a growing reactionary tendency in Ukraine, ”Peskov said and stressed that repressive actions by the authorities are obvious, and therefore there is a possibility of solving the problem in southeastern Ukraine by force.

Peskov noted that, in particular, opposition media in Russia are not persecuted in any way. As an example, he cited the Dozhd TV channel, which is broadcast throughout the country.

The presidential press secretary also stressed that US military aid to Ukraine provokes the Kiev authorities to pursue an aggressive policy towards Donbass, while Washington does not hide the fact of building up its offensive military potential.

Earlier, the Security Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions against five Russians, three Ukrainians and 19 legal entities. Among them is the leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life, Rada deputy Viktor Medvedchuk. The politician, in turn, said that these restrictive measures are illegal.

Prior to that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put into effect the NSDC’s decision on sanctions for five years against three local television channels associated with Medvedchuk and their owner Taras Kozak.
