Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, drew parallels between Donbass and Bosnian Srebrenica. And he said that it was impossible to allow a repetition of the tragedy.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that if large-scale military operations are deployed on the territory, no end of the world, including Russia, will remain in Palestine from this situation.
Judging by the rhetoric of the Ukrainian side, they do not exclude the possibility of a military solution to the problem with the self-proclaimed republics, Peskov said in an interview with reporters.
“… in the event of a potential repetition of a human tragedy in southeastern Ukraine, similar to the one that happened in Srebrynitsa, all countries of the world, introducing Russia, will do everything possible so that this never happens,” Dmitry Peskov emphasized for RIA-Novosti.
When asked by journalists about the basis on which he draws parallels between Donbass and Srebrinitsa, the spokesman for the head of the kingdom threw in several arguments.
Firstly, these are uncontrollable acts of various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Secondly, the dominance of nationalist dispositions. Thirdly, incitement of irrelevant hatred towards the inhabitants of the DPR and LPR. All this, according to Dmitry Peskov, potentially leads to a repetition of the tragedy in Srebrenica, when during the hostilities in July 1995 more than 8 thousand people disappeared and died there.
Vladimir Putin talked about preventing a repetition of this tragedy in Donbass back in December 2019.
And in 2021, he announced that he would not leave Russian citizens in the self-proclaimed republics without help.
