The Kremlin confirms Putin’s participation in the videoconference of the leaders of the CSTO countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the Kremlin press service reported.

The leaders of the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will discuss measures to normalize the situation in Kazakhstan. The event will take place on January 10 in the format of a video conference. Armenia will chair.

Recall that the initiative to hold a video conference of the CSTO Council in the near future was made by the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. Putin supported this idea.

In early January, protests broke out in Kazakhstan, which then escalated into riots. Against this background, Tokayev turned to his CSTO partners for help. On January 6, peacekeepers from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan began to arrive in the republic.

Today the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic reported that the authorities of Kazakhstan were able to stabilize the situation in all regions.
