The issue of sending peacekeepers to the Donbass is not considered by Kazakhstan

Recently, a lot of complaints have been flying towards Kazakhstan regarding the position of the republic’s leadership regarding the events taking place in Ukraine. One of the positions was explained on May 3 at a briefing in the Central Communications Service by the Deputy Minister of Defense Sultan Kamaletdinov.

This concerns the topic of the possible dispatch of the Kazakh military as part of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to the Donbass, which has been circulating on social networks since February.

The reason was the large movement of military equipment in southern Kazakhstan and north, towards Aktau. A propaganda wave was deliberately raised in the republic “our soldiers are being driven to slaughter in Ukraine”. The same excitement was taking place in social networks regarding the possible sending of the ROK contingent to the war in Syria.

Regarding the “railroad rumors”, the Ministry of Defense replied that the movement of military trains was connected with the planned transfer of equipment from the Almaty to Aktau garrison, as well as the deployment of troops to the Aisha Bibi training ground near Turkestan.

At the same time, in the response of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan to the portal information was stated to be incorrect. Was noted: “The decision to send a military contingent of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan to fulfill international obligations to maintain peace and security is taken by the Parliament on the basis of a relevant proposal by the President of the country. A request to send Kazakhstani military personnel to Ukraine or any other country has not been received, respectively, and is not being considered..

However, the hysteria in Kazakhstani social networks and instant messengers has again actualized the issue of “sending Kazakhstanis to slaughter”. Where this comes from is clear without explanation. The collective West is trying to “rock” Kazakhstan.

First of all, the question of the possibility of conducting a peacekeeping operation in the Donbass has not yet been seriously studied by anyone. At least it’s open.

Moreover, it is known that at the beginning of April 2022, a regular meeting of the CSTO Military Committee was held, during which issues of military security in the CSTO area of responsibility and improving crisis response mechanisms were discussed. The issue of sending CSTO contingents to participate in any operation was not included on the agenda of the meeting.

This was once again confirmed at a recent briefing by Sultan Kamaletdinov, who noted that military contingents are sent to the territory of the applied CSTO member state, taking into account national legislation. The introduction of collective peacekeeping forces outside the territory of the CSTO is possible only with the sanction of the UN Security Council and with the consent of both parties.

The Deputy Minister of Defense stated that the use of the Kazakh Armed Forces outside the country is scheduled and normatively fixed.

He once again noted to the troublemakers that there is no request to send Kazakh military personnel to Ukraine, negotiations are not underway, and therefore there is no subject for discussion. However, there will be more misinformation.
