The Investigative Committee completed the investigation into the case of ex-Minister Abyzov

Investigators have completed the investigation of the criminal case against ex-Minister of the Open Government Mikhail Abyzov and his 11 accomplices, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports.

Depending on the role of each, they are accused of creating a criminal community using their official position and participating in its activities, fraud on an especially large scale, legalization of funds received as a result of a crime, commercial bribery and illegal participation in business activities.

According to the investigation, in 2012-2018, defendants in the criminal community stole four billion rubles from the energy companies SIBECO and RES. They are also charged with involvement in illegal business activities with the extraction of income in the amount of more than 32.5 billion rubles, commercial bribery and legalization of stolen property and illegally obtained income.

During the preliminary investigation, all 12 accused were arrested.

In order to compensate for the damage, the investigation seized the property of Abyzov and other defendants, as well as companies controlled by them, worth over 37 billion rubles.

The criminal case was sent with an indictment to be brought to court.

Earlier, the Moscow City Court extended the arrest of Abyzov until March 25. The judicial authority refused the defense party’s petition to change the measure of restraint in relation to the defendants in the criminal case.

It was also reported that a neighbor filed a lawsuit against the ex-minister for the bay of an apartment located in the south-west of Moscow.
