Fueled by the leaders of Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Ukraine, people tried to make an unconstitutional change of power in Belarus, said the Minister of Defense of the republic Viktor Khrenin.
“Thanks to the coordinated actions of the state administration bodies and the support of the Belarusian people for the decisions of the President of the Republic of Belarus, it was possible to save the country from lawlessness and arbitrariness,” the press service of the department quotes Khrenin as saying.
In addition, the Minister of Defense thanked the military-political leadership of Russia and China for helping Minsk on a difficult day.
Mass protests in Belarus began after the incumbent Alexander Lukashenko won the presidential elections on August 9 with 80.1% of the vote. His closest opponent finished second. The first days of the action were suppressed by the security forces, hundreds of civilians and law enforcement officers suffered in the riots. Three deaths are also reported.
