The head of the European Council called an unprecedented situation with the spread of COVID

The head of the European Council Charles Michel called the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Europe unprecedented and very serious, writes TASS.

Urgent coordinated measures to combat the pandemic are needed, he said. He added that the EU will try to hold face-to-face summits, despite the aggravation of the pandemic.

Earlier, the World Health Organization reported that the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the world has grown by more than 2.2 million, which was a record weekly figure since the beginning of the pandemic. So, it was clarified that over the past week in Europe, 34% more people were infected than a week earlier.

Meanwhile, almost three dozen cities in Europe and Asia, among which there are capitals, as well as 11 US states have restricted the operation of bars and nightclubs amid rising incidence of coronavirus.
