The head of the Central Bank proposed to expand the criteria for preferential mortgages for young families

The head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina proposed expanding the criteria for preferential mortgages for young families, TASS reports.

At the annual meeting of bankers with the leadership of the Central Bank, Nabiullina expressed the opinion that the preferential program for young families is not in great demand, and therefore the criteria for support could be expanded.

She explained that, for example, wagering subsidies can be “done depending on the number of children.”

Earlier, the chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina said that the preferential mortgage program should be gradually phased out, possibly leaving it for certain regions with a shortage of housing supply.

Recall that President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation and the Central Bank to work out proposals for preferential mortgage programs in 2021-2024. The Central Bank and the government must submit relevant proposals by March 31. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov then clarified that the decision to extend the preferential mortgage programs until 2024 has not yet been made, while there is only an instruction to work out the appropriate option.
