The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that Russia was transferring “Khrushchev’s” T-62 tanks to the territory of Ukraine in order to use them as long-term firing points.
Earlier, videos appeared on the Web showing Soviet tanks on railway platforms. The authors of the video wrote that these tanks were heading towards Ukraine, Voennoye delo writes.
In Kyiv, they immediately announced that these tanks would be destroyed, since this old Soviet scrap metal could not withstand the blows of modern MANPADS.
The speaker of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said that the Russian Federation had transferred at least 30 old T-62 tanks to the Zaporozhye direction. There they, according to him, occupy a static position and will be used as long-term firing points.
But Ukrainian journalists suggested that it is unlikely that all T-62s will reach their destination on their own.
Recall that the Russian Federation has been conducting a “military special operation” on the territory of Ukraine since February 24. In Kyiv, they say that they do not intend to cede Ukrainian territories to the Russian Federation and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will go on a counteroffensive when Ukraine receives enough weapons from the West.
